No, this update will not be about a christian perspective on the Fed’s decision to lower interest rates, however excited some may be about that. I bring up the Fed because of what I heard yesterday in church. Apparantley a few decades ago, the chairman of the Fed was jewish. However, he attended White House prayer meetings. There was a guest speaker at one of these meetings who didnt know the chairman was jewish, and asked him to close in prayer. Not missing a beat, the chairman said this prayer: “I hope the Jews come to know Jesus, the Muslims come to know Jesus, and the Christians come to know Jesus.” I couldnt agree more. There may be a lot of different people from different parts of this country and the next reading this blog, all exposed to different groups of people. Thus, i can only speak from my vantage point. From what i see, the majority of people would cross off the “christian” box if they were filling out a religious survey to describe themselves. Yet as i drive to church on sunday mornings, i see people wearing their bathrobes (or less) walking to get their newspaper, soccer tournaments, people mowing lawns, etc. How is it that America is a “christian nation,” yet my high school’s bible study brings in 1% of the student body? Thus i can’t agree more that i think “…Christians should come to know Jesus.”
At the left side of this page you are viewing now is a “my links” section. I recommend you visit all of those links, which is why i put them there. Also, my sunday school teacher was discussing different views on how the earth came into being last night. i would use the word “created,” but he was discussing mainstream views which oppose that. There was a lot discussed–far more than i can remember. However, we were watching a video before the lecture began, wherein some zoologist professor was talking about different animals and how their design cannot be explained by evolution. I recall the giraffe, in particular. I never really thought about it, but do you realize how incredible they are? Their hearts are 2.5 feet wide (a little less than a meter, for you Brits), because they need one that big to pump blood up to their head. However, when they bend down to drink water, all the blood in their neck will follow gravity, thus going straight to the brain. God took care of this problem by giving them a sponge of sorts in their head, to protect their brain. Also, there are valves in their vessels throughout their necks to act as a flood gate for all this blood. The point of the zoologist was that according to evolution, it would be impossible for the giraffe to evolve in such a way to take care of the blood running up and down. I just thought that was interesting.
Praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD from the heavens,
praise him in the heights above.
Praise him, all his angels,
praise him, all his heavenly hosts.
Praise him, sun and moon,
praise him, all you shining stars.
Praise him, you highest heavens
and you waters above the skies.
Let them praise the name of the LORD,
for he commanded and they were created.
He set them in place for ever and ever;
he gave a decree that will never pass away.
Praise the LORD from the earth,
you great sea creatures and all ocean depths,
lightning and hail, snow and clouds,
stormy winds that do his bidding,
you mountains and all hills,
fruit trees and all cedars,
wild animals and all cattle,
small creatures and flying birds,
kings of the earth and all nations,
you princes and all rulers on earth,
young men and maidens,
old men and children.
Let them praise the name of the LORD,
for his name alone is exalted;
his splendor is above the earth and the heavens.
He has raised up for his people a horn,
the praise of all his saints,
of Israel, the people close to his heart.
Praise the LORD.
